Mrs. Papandria’s class and Mr. Jackson’s class (High School Choir) participated in a presentation about music in the Holocaust with BSU music professor, Dr. Galit Gerstzenson. Dr. ‘G’ spoke to us about her family’s past and the loss of grandparents in the Holocaust, and then explained how people coped during the war. We learned about various pieces of music, operas and movies created by imprisoned people, especially those with Jewish heritage, during World War II. Dr. G invites all students and family to attend her BSU music students’ recital on April 11 in Hahn Hall at 7pm where several of these pieces will be performed.
