After being invited to compete at the state level, two teams of 8th and 9th grade Burris Future Problem Solvers both won the top honors in the state of Indiana this last week! The team composed of Jessica Littleford, Mia Neff, Susannah Dack, and Alexandra Ruble won second place, and the team composed of Ella Neely, Sophia Taylor, Gwen Lawler, and Sadie Berg won first place. The future scenario they wrote about dealt with the topic of Coping with Stress.
The first place team is invited to compete at the 2019 International Future Problem Solvers competition to be held at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst from June 5 – 9. Jessica Littleford also won first place in the Scenario Writing Competition, and thus is also invited to present her winning story there. The topic we’ll be researching in order to compete is that of de-extinction.
We’re very proud of all eight competitors!
