Veterans Honored by Burris Students, Faculty

November 12, 2019

Monday, Nov. 11th, was Veteran’s Day at Burris Laboratory School. To pay tribute to those part of the Burris family that have served our country, veterans were invited to come to the auditorium for a special convocation in their honor.

The kindergarten and first grades sang a rendition of “We Will Not Forget You,” while the second through fifth grades sang the “Armed Forces Medley,” a compilation of the official marchpasts/songs of each of the U.S. Armed Forces.

Next, fifth grader Cameron Mileman performed “Taps” on trumpet, while other fifth grades students read poetry along with the music. Cameron then joined the rest of the fifth grade band to perform a final song, and after that the veterans were treated to refreshments in the life skills apartment.

Thank you to all the veterans who came to our convocation, and many thanks for your service.
