A New Perspective on Education

Middle School Initiative
Burris Laboratory has created a new middle school initiative called “IMPACT.” IMPACT is a transcurricular program where students are blended in classrooms from sixth through eighth grade. Students learn skills and disciplines through a wide variety of content and units. Each student can find their passion and love of learning through inquiry. Students can individualize their learning, have a say in what they learn, and create a positive experience in the classroom that best fits the individual student.
Advances in Technology
Burris Laboratory is continuously integrating the newest advances in technology. With the gracious generosity of the Ball Brothers Foundation, Burris has established an Innovation Lab. The Innovation Lab, or iLab, gives students access to various technology. The iLab contains numerous 3D printers and 3D pens for students to use to create. The iLab also offers a laser cutter that students can operate with the help of faculty, where each student can learn new skills and abilities. Students can use the iLab for coding and programmable Vex Robots.
Encouraging Curiosity with Clubs
Burris Laboratory School offers a wide variation of clubs and groups where each student can feel included. Students have the opportunity to help establish clubs they would like to have by finding a faculty sponsor and following the necessary steps to form the club.

Burris students use the online learning management platforms to access calendars, grades, attendance information, check teacher communications and obtain assignments.
